Overview

The CGA Program of Professional Studies incorporates requirements of education, examination and experience that individuals must meet to become a CGA.

The Association is recognized internationally as a leading developer and provider of competency-based professional accounting education that integrates ethics, information technology and the best methods of distance learning.

A requirement for certification is a bachelor's degree. While students may attain the degree from any recognized institution, CGA offers integrated degree opportunities through its degree partners - major Canadian post-secondary institutions.

General course and program details can be found in the syllabus published by CGA-Canada.

The history of the Program and its evolution, from small local classes to a comprehensive, interactive online distance education program delivered internationally, is evidence of almost a century-long commitment to provide open access to professional accounting education of the highest calibre.

Among unique features of the Program is the integration of ethics and hands-on use of information technology across the curriculum. All students are provided with a key resource - the CGA Ethics Readings Handbook - and ethics-related problem solving. In the IT area, students must have access to a computer system that will run modern business software and enable Internet access for online learning and research.
